Coal Sheds Art Studios is now Mare Island Art Studios!
The historic Coal Sheds on the former Mare Island Naval Shipyard became art studios in April 1999 by artist founder, Tim Rose.
Presently, the 8,000 sq. ft building provides individual creative work spaces for 17 artists working in a variety of media such as wood, metalworking, photography, sculpture, painting and printmaking.
A portion of the Coal Shed is gallery space for the artists though not open to the public except by appointment, and once a year for Open Studios. The gallery provides an area away from the clutter of the workspace to arrang…
